Laser Dentistry

Dental lasers are used for a variety of dental procedures.

Surgery

With laser surgery, there is a reduced need for local anesthesia, bleeding is minimized, swelling is controlled, and there is usually little, if any, postoperative discomfort.

The laser can also be used to treat cold sores with no anesthesia, providing immediate relief. With follow-up treatment, many report a disappearance of the sores.

Carries Detection

A low-powered laser can be used to detect tiny pits within tooth enamel that can become cavities. The laser, called DIAGNOdent, can find decay early. Once located, the tiny spots on the tooth can be covered with a clear sealant or filled with a small filling and tooth structure can be preserved.
